There are several audio buffs who would prefer to listen to a couple of old audio speakers or possibly a vacuum tube av receiver built sometime within the nineteen fifties versus the so-called micro-processor driven, electronic sounding elements developed nowadays. Possibly one in the greatest sounding old style audio speakers will be the Tannoy Berkeleys. Tannoy also developed a loudspeaker known as the canterbury that was awesome just as well. If you are able to find these at auction I would probably certainly get a set of two.

You don't need a lot of money to put together an incredible sweet sounding, detailed, timbrally accurate 2-channel (stereo) system with great synergy! Even with tubes! This fantastic little system consists of the following, and can be put together for under a grand: AV123 X-LS bookshelf speakers Denon DCM-370 HDCD player Little Dot MKIII tubed headphone amp & preamplifier AudioSource Model AMP Two amplifier Straightwire interconnects Monster M-series speaker cabling Preamp driver tubes are Hytron JHY-6AK5 from 1951. AMAZING EF95 tubes! Music by Steven Delopoulos, from the 'Me Died Blue' album. Enjoy!

Retro speaker systems are excellent at reproducing the full sound spectrum when measuring relatively level. Once paired with the right tools this can produce unbelievable seperation and positioning of vocals and instruments. It provides the level of music where if you close your eyes it's tough to see that you are basically listening to a recording.
